I have chronic back pain that is a daily problem for me. I prefer not to take pain meds (percocet, vicondin, etc.) until it gets unbearable, but haven't had much luck with other types of treatment (massage, chiro, acupuncture, etc.) So I'm always looking for something that will at least help relieve the pain, particularly if I know I'm going to be running around a lot and aggravating the problem. I've used capsicum arthritis cream in the past for other issues and found it very effective, so thought I'd give these back patches a try.So I buy some hot capsicum patch.
The hot capsicum patch is about 12*18cm, the little sketch on the front of the package shows the area it can cover fairly well. It has holes in it for ventilation, and is fairly thin and flexible. I found that the patch stayed in place very nicely and is not so stiff as to make it too uncomfortable to bend and move. I've also used lidocaine patches on my back and found that the hot capsicum patch stayed in place better, and pretty much never came off on its own. You cannot however, remove it and reuse it once it's been used.
This one is my favorite,It does get quite hot feeling and it's probably too much for people who are sensitive to pepper.
Hot capsicum patch
For me, it works really well. The hot capsicum patches cover a fair amount of area and go on fairly easily. They move like fabric and are nice and thin so they don't show through clothes and the heat is strong. They don't have an overwhelming scent like a lot of these products do. They last a long time after application.
Absolutely my favorite thing to use on bad days, even more than my TENS unit because it doesn't show while still providing a lot of relief
Now, if you're not familiar with capsicum, it is an extract from chili peppers that has pain relief properties. Since it's from hot peppers, it also produces a fair amount of heat. You don't want to use this patch, for instance, and then take a hot shower. You'll also find if you are leaning against it, such as in a car, it will get quite hot, almost to the point of getting burnt. You'll also find this can be something that will linger and should be careful about using patches over consecutive days. I find the heat and pain relief a very nice combo and gives me good results for up to 8 hours which is far better than most patches. The price for the hot capsicum patches is also cheaper than most cold-hot pain patches, but the results worth it for occasional use.
